York Street Wesleyan Methodist Church, TodmordenRef 5-262
Langfield.

Built on a part of Old Shop Meadow.

Opened in 1827-1828 to replace Doghouse Wesleyan Chapel.

In 1837, a breakaway group established the Bridge Street (Central) Methodist Church, Todmorden.

James Ashworth was Chapel Keeper, until his brother Lawrence Ashworth took over the post [1861-1891].

The Church was enlarged in 1877.

A new larger Sunday school for the Church opened on 9th March 1907.

The York Street Wesleyan Chapel and the Bridge Street (Central) Methodist Church united in the former York Street Sunday School building

The Church closed in 1942.
