
Halifax Poor Law Union
After the Napoleonic Wars, the Poor Law Act [1834] was
passed.
This enabled the formation of Poor Law Unions.
In February 1838, the Halifax Union comprised
- Halifax District with the townships of
- Elland District with the townships of
- Northowram District with the townships of
- Ovenden District with the townships of
- Southowram District with the townships of
- Sowerby District with the townships of
