Nature

Poem by

Levi Haigh

How beautiful the world appears,
Clad in her robes of Spring,
And every scene around me cheers
My heart with joy to sing.

The trees are waving in the sun
And clap their hands with glee.
Sunshine and shallow dance in fun
   On every side of me.

I hear the music of the trees.
   So pleasant, sweet and clear,
Played by the fingers of the breeze.
Which soothes to rest my fear.

I sit beneath a canopy
   Of every shade of green,
While shrubs and hedges form for me
   A lovely sylvan scene.

What shady nooks where branches meet
   To frame such cosy bowers.
Where buttercups and daisies sweet
   Court dandelion flowers.

O what a pleasing view along:
   The grass to yonder trees,
Whose forms, so lofty and so strong,
   Change ever with the breeze.

As nature sings, so let us sing
   Our hallelujahs sweet,
For all the glories of the Spring
   Which everywhere we meet.
