In the morning

Poem by

Levi Haigh

When we waken in the morning
   To behold another day;
Do our hearts "well up" with praises
   And compel our lips to say -
God will bless us:
   We will trust Him all the way.

While attending to our toilet
   And, with plenty, break our fast:
Do we pray for spirit-cleansing
   And for heavenly repast?
God is willing
   To provide the things that last.

As we walk along life's journey.
   Wheresoever we may roam:
Do our spirits long for shelter,
   And to Him for refuge come?
God is wishful
   We should find in Him our home.

As we rest awhile at noon-day,
   Or when evening shadows fall;
Do we act upon the promise,-
   He will answer when we call:
God is with us
   And will be our "All in all."
