The day that dawns – at evening dies, the sun that rises soon descends;
The year that's new grows old and flies, A life begins, speeds on and ends.
So! This small booklet now must close: first words and others bring the last:
That, which before the vision rose, will soon be real and in the past.
Herein may every reader find, while passing on from page to page,
Some things to cheer and feed the mind, while living on through stage to stage.
May things recorded, new and old, of prayer and praise, of joy and peace,
Of beauties God will yet unfold, of life in Christ to still increase:
For this life, surely, is not all: the sun that sets must soon ascend-
So falls asleep the dying soul, to wake in life that shall not end.
