To My Grandmother, Betty Haigh

Poem by

Levi Haigh

Eighty and six long years have you been spared
To wend your way along the path of life;
And yet, through all as maiden and as wife,
You say how well and gently you have fared.
'Tis thus you have, most willingly declared
God's faithfulness in every turn of life:
And how, when most bewildered in the strife
And all seemed dark, a way was still prepared.
He who hath done so much these many years
Is still the same, unchangeable and kind;
Dismiss your doubts and put away your fears,
For you shall never fail in Him to find
A friend in need, most merciful and true,
Who's ever by your side to comfort you.
