Lines written for albums and other purposes

Poem by

To Miss A. B.

When many years have passed away,
And many changes you have seen;
When long has past your wedding-day,
And much, now future, will have been:
When many trials you have known,
And many joyous seasons too:
And when, sometimes, while sat alone,
The past comes up before your view:
Though much you may have then forgot,
And dear old friends are far away.
I ask,- "Will you remember not
Those whom you leave behind to-day?"
We wish you every happiness,
And hope that God will guide and bless.

To Miss A. S.

When many days have passed away,
And you and I no longer meet;
Nor at our work each other greet;
Hear what these lines will have to say.
They shall remind you of a day,
And of a friend whose high esteem
Shall not be transient as a dream;
But, in the heart, still hold its sway.
Should age and weakness be your lot,
And time seem dull and pleasures few,
Be cheered by knowing- you have got
Mementos of a time when you
Were young and bright; while on before
May you behold a brighter shore!
