His last announcement was the formation of the Independent Labour Party.

For many years, he was the organ-blower at Heywood's Chapel, Northowram.

In [Q4] 1881, he married (1) Rebecca Roberts [1844-1885] in Halifax.

Rebecca died in 1883 (aged 41).

In [Q1] 1884, he married (2) Frances Riddell [18??-1921] in Halifax.
