Henry Edmunds

[1823-1904]



Henry Edmunds was born in Banbury, Oxfordshire.

He was an ironmonger / iron merchant at Halifax / a partner in Roper & Edmunds [1854] / a partner in Edmunds & Hookway [1868].

On 26th July 1849, he married (1) Caroline Hatton [1823-1853] at St Paul's Church, Islington.

In 1852, they moved to Halifax.

Child: Henry

Caroline died in childbirth [26th May 1953].

On 1st June 1854, he married (2) Sarah Hannah Walker at Stainland Wesleyan Chapel.


Sarah Hannah was the daughter of Samuel Walker
 


The ceremony was conducted by Rev F. F. Edmunds of Wisbech
 

Children:

  1. Alice Mary [b 1856] who married [September 1879]  Alfred S. Milnes of Stoke Newington at South Parade  Chapel
  2. Edith Milnes [b 1858]

The family lived at

He was active in local affairs.

In 1879, he was a shareholder in John Bagnall & Sons Limited of Birmingham.

Henry, Sarah & other members of the family were buried at Stoney Royd Cemetery
