He lived with his father at 26 Hollins Street, Triangle.

During World War I, he joined the Colours [23rd February 1917] and served as a Private / Signaller with the 7th Battalion Leicestershire Regiment.

He was killed in action [22nd March 1918] (aged 19).

The Halifax Courier [27th April 1918] reported his death with a photograph.

He is remembered on the Pozières Memorial, France [Grave Ref 29 & 30], on the Memorial at Saint Peter's Church, Sowerby, and on Triangle War Memorial
