He was charged with several criminal offences and sent to trial
He was also charged with stealing property belonging to Abraham
Stocks of Queensbury.
He was also charged with theft of a new pair of boots
from Freeman, Hardy & Willis.
Samuel Blakey of King Street said he was offered the boots for
sale.
On 29th November 1880, Charles appeared in court and pleaded
guilty to the following charges
and was sentenced to 2 months' imprisonment on each charge with hard
labour.
In 1893, he was charged with obtaining 2 lbs of pork & 4 lbs of beef
from Levi Sugden property of Joshua Ellis & Fred
Womersley, and 9 lbs of beef & 5 lbs of bacon at North Bierley on
5th January 1893.
He was sentenced to 9 months' hard labour

He was working at a quarry belonging to Messrs Thompson's when a newspaper [16th March 1900] reported that he was
assisting a delver named Hamilton Barber, and was sent for a
baring 15 ft from the bottom of the quarry.
On arriving there, he threw the tools down and shortly
afterwards Barber saw Kaye lying at the bottom of the
quarry, badly injured.
He was taken to Halifax Infirmary.
