On Tuesday, 15th November 1881, 3 brothers – Sam [aged 40], Sydney and Hezekiah Waterhouse – masons of Sowerby Bridge, were severely injured when a bridge which they were building on the estate collapsed. A fourth man escaped unharmed.

In May 2012, the Estate – the buildings and 750 acres – was advertised for sale at offers of over £7 million
