On Monday 5th April 1915, he went to Burnley Fair and bought a young
horse.
He led the horse home, and when he was about 2 miles from his farm, a
motor car passed.
The horse became very restive and plunged wildly, one of his hooves
striking Ormerod's head, smashing his skull.
A passer-by picked him up and Dr Elliot was called.
Ormerod was taken home by the Todmorden Corporation ambulance.
He died noon the next day

After about two weeks in the firing line, he was shot through the
spine which paralysed his lower body.
He spent about a fortnight in hospital in France before being
transferred to the Norfolk War Hospital, Norwich, on the 25th
of September.
His mother, brother and sweetheart went to see him there yesterday
week [27th September] and found him conscious, but his recovery was
considered hopeless and he died on Sunday night [30th September]
He was buried at St Paul's Church, Cross Stone

On Tuesday [17th February], the mother went out of the house to take
some clothes off the line, leaving a pail of boiling water standing
near the kitchen table.
The mother warned the child to keep away from the pail, but this
warning does not appear the have been heeded, for, hearing screams,
the mother on going into the house found that the deceased had fallen
backwards in the pail of water.
She was very badly scalded and died about 4:30 pm
