Pipe Roll of 26 Henry II [Michaelmas (Sept) 1179- Mich. 1180]1176 Richard son of Roger paid 5 marks to obtain from the Curia Regis the privilege of an inquest in respect to the seizure of Kirkby which had been taken into the King's hands because he had married his daughter and heir without the royal licence. As a result of the inquest the Justices fined him 100 pounds. Richard found sureties for the payment and recovered possession, paying during the year a first instalment of 13 pounds 6s 8d
