In 1891, 1901, he and his brother John William were living with their mother and their Tattershall grandparents.

In 1911, he was living with his widowed grandmother Ellen Tattersall.

Arthur was a member of Mount Tabor Wesleyan Sunday School / a worsted spinning doffer [1901] / an assistant grocer at Co-operative stores [1911].

He had a sweetheart Hetty.

During World War I, he enlisted [May 1916] and served as a Private with the 38th Battalion Machine Gun Corps (Infantry).

He was killed by shrapnel [23rd October 1918] (aged 31).

The Halifax Courier [16th November 1918] reported his death with a photograph.

He was buried at Montay-Neuvilly Road Cemetery, Montay, France [Grave Ref IV B 2].
