The West Yorkshire Railway Company

The West Yorkshire Railway Company was proposed in 1844.

The following is taken from The Leeds Mercury of 26th October 1844

The lines were to be

• From Bradford to Halifax, in connection with the Station of the Valley Line at Bradford, to a point of Junction with the Manchester and Leeds Railway near Sowerby Bridge

• From Bradford to Huddersfield, branching off the Halifax Line at Low Moor, and down the Cleckheaton Valley, to a Junction with the Huddersfield and Dewsbury Line

• From Leeds to Halifax, starting from the Station of the Valley Line at Leeds, and proceeding by Farnley, Pudsey, and the Tong Valley, to a Junction with the Bradford and Halifax Line at Low Moor

Capital of One Million Pounds in 20,000 Shares of £30 each – Deposit £3 per share.
