The name of William son of Orm appears in the witness list of the following grant:
Grant by Roger son of Orm to Augustine de Heaton son of Waldeve of a moiety of Heaton in Lonsdale in exchange for the third part of Hutton in Leylandshire. To hold in free thanage by the same yearly service that he (Roger son of Orm) held it, in exchange for Augustine's inheritance that being a third part of Hutton, on condition that should he not be able to warrant to him the land in Heaton, Augustine should recover his inheritance in Hutton unless he had forfeited it by his own fault. Witnesses: Alberto Buissel, Galfrido Buissel, Ricardo filio [son of] Rogeri, Ricardo ffitun, Roberto de Win[ewick], Augustino filio Gospatric, Waltero filio Osberti, Jordano filio Ricardi, Rogero Pincera, Grimbaldo, Orm filio Bernolf, Adam fractre ejus [his brother] Waldervo filio Gamel, Adam fractre Waldevi, et Aelsi, Sywardo et Ricardo filiis Outi, Adam filio Ulf, Adam decano de [dean of] Kirckeham, Hugone de Insula, Helia filio Rogeri [son of the grantor], Willelmo filio Orm [William son of Orm], Gamel filio Gamel, et Henrico, cum multis aliis [and many others].Undated. 6-26 Henry II, AD1160-1180, probably AD 1160-1170.

While no proof has been found that the witness William son of Orm above is a younger brother of Roger son of Orm, his presence here, and his position in the witness list – being after Elias, Roger son of Orm's son and heir – does fit with other documents to be found for other families in this period
