He had a very successful oil business in the 1920s, but this was
completely wiped out in the Great Crash, and they lived in
very straightened circumstances.
He was a retired manufacturer's agent [1939].
On 21st May 1927, he married Mary Isabel
at St Thomas, Devon.
They lived in The Hill House, Sevenoaks, Kent [1939].
Living with them [in 1939] was Cynthia
M. Shaw, Isabel's daughter by her first marriage.
During World War II,
Jock was an ARP warden.
He died on active service in 1940,
suffering a heart attack running across a ploughed field to a downed
aircraft.
Isabel was awarded a War Pension, on which she survived
until 1945 when she became a beneficiary of the will of Arthur Selby McCrea
