Inscription for Samuel Stead and his wife, Mary, on a grave-stone near the font of Halifax Parish Church

Here lieth the body of MARY, the wife of Samuel Stead, of Halifax, who was buried the 29th of May, 1734, aged 92 years and six months.

She was wife of the abovesaid Samuel Stead, Salter, 58 years and 6 months.

Also Samuel Stead, husband to the abovesaid Mary, who departed this life the 4th day of December, 1736, aged 80 years, 10 months, and seven days

SACRED to the MEMORY of MARY, the Wife of SAML STEAD
of HALIFAX, who was burd the 29th of May 1734, Aged 82 Years.
     
Also of the sd SL  STEAD, who died the 4th of Decr 1736, aged 80.
     
Also of NAOMI, the Wife of VALENTINE STEAD, Merchant,
who died the 9 of Octr 1740, aged 47
     
Also of the sd VAL STEAD, who died the 16 May 1758, aged 70,
and 7 of yr Childn.
     
Also of SAML STEAD Esqr, son of the sd VAL, who died the 24
Novr 1764, aged 30.
     
Also of GRACE, his Wife, who died he 17 July 1776, aged 37.
     
Also of MARY, the Wife of SAML STEAD, Son of the sd SAML,
who died at York the 24 Apl 1793, aged 33.
     
Also of the sd SL STEAD, who died the 6 Septr 1800, aged 40,
& was burd at Bishop Hill the younger in York with his Wife,
and 3 of yr Childn who died Infts.
