Inscription


In Affectionate Remembrance of
     
Emma
the beloved daughter of 
James & Harriet Mitchell, of Halifax,
who died November 1st 1870, aged 4 years & 1 month.
     
Also 2 infants.
     
Weep not dear parents but be content,
for unto you I was but lent.
In love we lived, in peace I died,
you ask'd my life, but t'was denied.
     
Also Harriet, 
the beloved wife of the above
James  Mitchell,
of Poulton-le-Fylde,
who died November 14th 1899, aged 64 years
     
I leave the world without a tear,
save for the friends I held so dear,
to heal their sorrows Lord descend,
and to the friendless prove a friend.
