The novel Agnes Grey was written by Anne Brontë under the name Acton Bell [1847].
An early title was Passages in the life of an individual. She completed the book in 1846.
On 13th December 1847, Thomas Cautley Newby published Emily's Wuthering Heights and Anne's Agnes Grey on condition that they paid him – a total of £50.
On 10th December 1850, the novel was published by Smith, Elder & Company with an introduction by Charlotte.
