Miscellaneous Saltonstall items

These miscellaneous items relate to members of the Saltonstall / Saltinstall families.

They are taken from various sources including Parish Registers and the Wakefield Court Rolls

• 1274: William de Saltonstall recorded

• 1275: Robert de Saltonstall recorded

• 1275 Sourby: That Robert de Saltonstall has appropriated land to his bank in the common of that town to the extent of two feet.

  It is ordered to be reinstated and he is in mercy for the trespass, fine 6/8d

• 1275 Sourby: Henry Hourebrother and Richard Hodde complain of William and John de Noteschawe, Robert, son of Roger Richard de Eastwode and Robert de Saltonstall for trespass pledge William the Grave

• About 1275: Robert de Saltonstall fined 12d for the escape of three pigs

• 1308 Sourby: Henry de Saltonstall v William Swaype and John the Webster (texter)  for traspass.

  Pledge William de Saltonstall.

  Swaype is attached by John the Webster, etc.,

  It is found (attinctum) by the inquisition of the jury that William Swaype and John the Webster (textor) of Werlouley assaulted Henry de Saltonstall and William his brother while they were going to their plough, and cut off the ? of the plough and wounded the said William de Saltonstall as taxed by the inquisition.

  They must satisfy them, and are in mercy, 2s.

• August 1612: Jonas Saltinstall, son of Samuel, baptised in Halifax

• 9/1651: Grace Saltinstall, daughter of John, baptised in Halifax

• 25/11/1737: Jonathan Saltinstall baptised in Halifax
