Brighouse Railway Station



General Points

Brighouse station (from Hebden Bridge) opened 5th October 1840. The station was properly known as Brighouse (for Rastrick).

The station was originally called Brighouse & Bradford, as there was no station in Bradford at that time.

On 1st March 1841, the Manchester-Leeds railway line via Brighouse opened. On 31st March 1854, the Bradford-Halifax railway line via Brighouse opened.

In 1872, the station closed and was used as a goods depot. A new station was built on the other side of Huddersfield Road.

A telegraph office opened here on 1st February 1859.

The station closed on 3rd January 1970 when the 6:53 pm train from Kings Cross to Halifax and Bradford had passed through.

A new station reopened on 29th May 2000
