In the name of God Amen the five and twentieth
day of November in the twentieth yeare of ye Raigne of our Soveraigne Lord James
of England France and Ireland and of Scotland the sixe and fiftieth and in
the yeare of our lord one thousand sixe hundreth twentie and two I Richard Brodley of
Skircote in the countie of York clothier being sicke in body but of good and
sound mind and memorie praised be God do advisedlie and with due deliberation
declare make and publish this my last will and testament in writing contayning
herein my full will and minde in manner and forme following that is to saie
first I commend my soule into the hands of Almightie God my most loveing father
but trusting by the death and obedience of Jesus Christ to have full and free
remission of all my sinnes and life everlsting and my bodie I committ to the earth
from whence it came and touching my worldlie estate wherewith God hath blessed me
first my will and mind is that my wife shall have and enioy dureing so manie yeares
as she shall live one third part of one messuage or tenement and of two closes of land
with th'appurtenances in Skircote aforesaid late in the tenure or occupacion of Danell
Greenewood or his assignes which are in lease for manie yeares yet dureing the
residew and remainder shall my lease interest and tearme of yeares of and in the said
messuage or tenement and two closes with th'appurtenances I give and bequeath unto Anne
my daughter and I doe also will and my mind is that my wife shall have her rights
and in all my landes tenements goods and chattels according to the lawes of the land and
in custome of the province where I do dwell Item I do give and bequeath these
severall legacies following that is to saie to Robert Brodley my naturall brother fortie
shillings ??? dureing his naturall life to (? Samuell or Daniell) Smith my sisters sonne three pounds
to ?Ann Smith daughter of the said Samuell/ Daniell fortie shillings to ?Mary Smith my
sisters daughter tenn shillings to James Brodley sonne of my said brother Robert
thirtie shillings to ???? ??? twentie shillings to Richard Brodley
sonne of Thomas Brodley my brother twentie shillings and to William Jenkinson
tenne shillings Ann Marie Jenkinson my sisters children each of them twentie
shillings item I give unto ?Joseph ?? ? fortie shillings to be distributed
at the discretion of my overseers hereafter named The residue and remainder
of all my goods chattels creditts and debts after my true debts paid and
?trulie discharged I do give devise and bequeath to ye said Anne
my daughter whome I make and appoint whole and sole executrix trusting in her to discharge my
last will and testament the tuition for my said daughter dureing her minoritie
I committ to my loveing frende John Bairstow of Brownehurst hopeing he will be
carefull in her education and marriage also I doe request my brother Thomas
Brodley and my loveing frend James Stancliffe and Richard ?? of Hallifax
to be overseers of this my will and to be assistants to myne executrix wherein best
assist and help in the performance of this my will and testament in witness whereof
I have set my hande and seale the date and yeare first above written
and also I give to my sister Isabel twentie shillings and Francis Miers tenn
shillings and Easter Binnes tenn shillings and Susann Binnes five shillings
and John Bairstow five shillings and Abraham Lister five shillings at my death (interlining which I can't read)
