In the name of God Amen the xxvijth daie of Maye in the xijth yeare of the reign
of our soveraigne Lord King James of England, France and Ireland etc and of Scotland the
xlvijth witnesseth that I Edward Broadley of Ayrindenne within the county of York clothier
beinge somewhat crasy in bodye but of good and perfect memory thankes be to God for the same
and consederinge the certainty of death and the uncertainty of the hour and tyme hereof
and especialy to th'end that mutuall amity and peace and concorde may be had and preserved
amongst my frendes and kinsfolkes after my death doe therefore make declare and sett
downe this my present testament conteyninge therein my last will in manner and forme following
that is to say first and principally I give and commend my soule into the handes of almightie
god my creator assuredly trustinge and faithfully beleeveinge to have full and free remission
and forgiveness of all my sins and offenses by and through the merits death and passion of Jesus
Christ his sonne myne alone Saviour and blessed redeemer and my bodye I commit to the earth where
of it was made in hope of a joyfull resurrection unto eternall life and as concerninge my worldly
goods it is my will and mynde that all my true and lawful debtes funerall expenses and all
ecclesiastical duties be payed and discharged of the same after which done it is my will and
mynde and I doe heareby give and bequeath to Caleb Broadley my brother's sonne iiij li Item I
give and bequeath to Elizabeth Ashworth wife of Hugh Ashworth one arke Item the rest
and residue of all my goodes cattells and debtes whatdoever I give and bequeath to the said
Hugh Ashworth which sayde Hugh I nominate make and appointe sole executor of this my
present testament trustinge him with the true and faithfull execution heare of In wittness
