The Times [20th June 1872] & the Norfolk News [22nd June 1872]
I, Alfred Pigg, of Savile Park Terrace, Halifax, in the County of York, & of Old Market, in the same town, silk mercer & draper, having determined to assume the family name of THEOBALD, do hereby give notice that I shall henceforth use in all deeds and writings which I shall hereafter sign, and upon all occasions whatever, and in lieu of my present surname, the surname of THEOBALD only.Dated this 14th day of June 1872.

Three of the sons of the late Mr Alfred Theobald of Halifax, whose death was announced the other day, are missionaries in India, and another is minister of a church at Bolton
