Buteyko Trilogy Book reviews
Volume 1

Thank you, Alex, no matter how often I have read it in both languages I find it fascinating to read it again.
Frieda Belakhova · Sydney, Australia

Alex Spence's publication of the Destruction of The Laboratory is simply terrific and inspiring.  Written like a biography, it presents the story of what could have been the greatest discovery in medical science, and it's foundations and struggles in what could have been the greatest nation in the world.
It's discoverer, Dr. K.P. Buteyko sought hard to cure many of the world's ailments and believed so much that his discovery could do much more, such as bring peace, to humanity.

The book's story begins in the coldest region of the USSR.  A young doctor, Dr, Buteyko was a brilliant man who worked so hard that he himself developed a terrible incurable disease.  In his course of healing himself, he discovered a method, known today as the "Buteyko Method", which could cure various ailments at almost no cost.  His discovery could rock the medical proffession so hard that it's captains refused the method to protect whatever stake they had for themselves.

Translated from the original Russian text, the book is well written, easy to read and comprehend.  It's plot packs up more than enough to keep any reader reading for hours without end.  It presents various scientific principles which the discovery is based on, and intertwines these principles with the lives of the characters involved.  It presents the method very accurately.

More than just a presentation of the Buteyko Method, the Destruction of the Laboratory, also shows a microcosm of life in Russia and it's culture.  Did the Soviet citizens believe in God?  Were they fond supporters of their leaders?  What were their leaders like?  How did they see the cold war and the vietnam war? Did they like western products?  The book describes various aspects of Russian society such as how they train for sports, how they conduct scientific stiudies, their transportation systems, their food, and even how Russians see the first sign of spring.

The Destruction of the Laboratory is an eye openner to a world that seemed to be so closed and shrouded in mystery.
By showing us the weaknesses in the Soviet's method of handling such a great discovery, the book also showed us the weaknesses in the Soviet's government which eventually led to it's decline.  In a way, the forces which led to the Destruction of the Laboratory are the same forces which ultimately led to the destruction of a great emprire!

On his part, Dr. Buteyko, despite endless difficulties and persecution, stood tall and unyielding.  He is a shining example of a man with great virtues and ideals.  He is a model for all of us.  Beyond his discovery, his own personal life should inspire us to become better men and women, and to stand up for the truth no matter the difficulties!

In the end, it isnt heroes like Superman or Harry Potter who we really need in this world, we need true heroes like Dr. K.P. Buteyko.  Unfortunately, unlike in fiction, most of our real heroes stories' may seem to end in tragedy.  In reality though, the truths which our heroes stood for ressurects ands lives long after their lives have ended.

This book is a marvellously inspiring book.  I highly recommend it to all Buteyko practitioners, to all Buteyko users, and to all students of medicine.  Essentially, I recommend it to anyone who likes inspiring stories.  I guess, in a way, you can say that I recommend it to everyone!

Dr. Charles Florendo

"There is in fact a natural Method that is capable of curing and minimizing symptoms of chronic disease.  After reading Volume One of Doctor Buteyko's Discovery, one will learn how this Method became a very well kept secret, and unethically hidden from society."
